Are your items new or used?

All items sold by UPG24 are used or refurbished, unless clearly stated otherwise.

We specialise in pre-owned photographic equipment that has been:

  • Checked

  • Tested

  • Accurately described

We don’t sell brand-new, sealed retail stock.

What does “Refurbished” mean at UPG24?

Refurbished means the item has been:

  • Fully tested in-house

  • Cleaned and prepared for resale

  • Confirmed as fully functional

Refurbished items include a 12-month warranty — clearly stated, no small print gymnastics.

It doesn’t mean “never used”.

It means properly checked and trusted.

How do you grade condition?

We keep grading honest and human.

  • Cosmetic condition = how it looks

  • Functional condition = how it works

A camera can look well-loved and still perform perfectly.

A shiny camera can still be problematic. (We’ve seen both.)

Which brings us neatly to…

Are the photos of the actual item?

Yes.

Unless we explicitly say otherwise, the photos show the exact item you’ll receive.

No stock images.

No “representative condition”.

No surprises when the box turns up.

We always provide a large number of clear, high-quality images of the actual item for sale, so you can assess condition properly and buy with confidence.

If it’s in the photos — it’s part of the deal.


Has the item been tested?

Yes — every item is checked before listing.

This typically includes:

  • Power and operation

  • Buttons, sensors, optics, dials and controls

  • Autofocus and image capture (where applicable)

That said, used gear is still used gear — which is why returns and warranties exist.

(If used gear never failed, photographers would live very boring lives.)


Do you offer a warranty?

  • Refurbished items come with a 12-month warranty

  • Used items are covered by our standard 30 day no quibble returns policy

Warranty details are always stated clearly on the listing.

How quickly do you dispatch?

Fast. Very fast.

All orders placed by 3pm Mon-Friday 3pm (or 11am Saturday), are dispatched the same working day. After this time, we send the next working day

Fast dispatch matters.

Safe delivery matters more so we always ensure your purchase is superb packaged.

Who do you use for shipping?

Tracked, reputable couriers only, Royal Mail and DPD

We do not use:

  • “Budget” services

  • Untracked services

  • Anything involving hope, luck, or crossed fingers

Cameras don’t like being thrown around.

Neither do photographers.  Superb packaging & protection is assured on all our packages.

What if I change my mind?

No problem.

If the item isn’t right for you, you can return it within the stated 30 day return window.

We simply ask that items are:

  • Returned in the same condition they were supplied

  • Packed securely for transit

Used gear purchases can sometimes be a judgement call, and we understand that.

That’s why we aim to keep returns straightforward, fair, and stress-free.

Do you buy or take trade-ins?

Yes, gladly

We regularly buy cameras, lenses and accessories from photographers and trade partners.

Why don’t you always have the same items in stock?

Virtually all our  inventory is single-item stock.

Used photographic equipment is unique — once an item is sold, that exact piece is gone. There isn’t a warehouse of identical replacements waiting behind it.

That’s part of the appeal… and occasionally part of the frustration.

The upside is range.

We buy, list, and sell large volumes of gear every day, which means stock is constantly moving — but it’s also being replenished just as quickly. New items are added daily, often across the same brands and categories.

If something you’re looking for isn’t available right now, it’s worth checking back — chances are another example will appear soon.

That’s the nature of pre-owned gear, and it’s exactly where we specialise.
